If it should feel

If it should feel like a drop of sunlight has fallen upon
And blotted the soft tissue of your heart
And that joyous leapings and dance should there then take place
If in the origami of your inner foldings
You construct a flower the form of a peacock's majesty
Resist the urge to awe and long for its beauty
But crush it at once within your fist

Crying isn't shedding tears

Crying isn't shedding tears.
I shed tears today
Not because of joy or pride
The tears shed themselves unbeknownst to me in honour of dignity
They deferred and bowed in dignity's presence
and streamed about the contours of my cheeks
In silence
As a mark of respect

The Ascent

Don’t think
Don’t have aspirations
Don’t have goals
Don’t have visions of
Don’t reflect
Don’t forecast
Don’t procrastinate
Don’t stop
Don’t slow down
Don’t look up
Don’t multi-task
Don’t dwell

But do.
